Use Inventory to track how many units you can supply. Stock tracking is optional.
Step 1: Add a stock location
- Open Settings → Inventory and add the location details.
- Or choose Add Location from the product form.
- The current editor needs one location before tracking can be enabled.
- Do not assume several warehouses are available.
Step 2A: Track a product without variants
- Open the product and expand Inventory.
- Turn Track inventory on.
- Enter Stock quantity.
- Set a Low stock alert threshold.
- Review Allow backorder.
- Save the product.
Step 2B: Track sizes or colours
- Use the variant rows in Inventory.
- Check Track, Stock, Low stock and backorder options for each combination.
- Save the whole product.
What does Allow backorder mean?
- It allows orders after tracked stock runs out.
- Enable it only if you can supply the item later.
- Explain the expected timing to customers.
Step 3: Check the result
- Return to Products and review the stock summary.
- Check availability in your storefront.
- A low-stock setting does not prove a notification was delivered.
If stock looks wrong
- Check the correct product or variant.
- Confirm tracking is enabled at that level and changes were saved.
- Product Quantity and Unit describe what is sold; they are separate from tracked stock.
- Ask support before repeating adjustments you cannot explain.
